When NECC acquired Ducks Roofing earlier this year, the goal was more than growth— it was alignment. Alignment with people who share our commitment to quality, responsiveness, and follow-through.
Few embody that more than Scott Gibson, former Ducks Roofing president, whose career has shaped much of the commercial roofing landscape across the Tidewater region.
Over the past three decades, Scott has worked on the majority of hospitals and medical facilities in the area — leading new roof and re-roofing projects that demand precision, planning, and flexibility. In these environments, patient care comes first. That means managing noise, odors, access, and schedules to ensure the work happens seamlessly — often at night, on weekends, or during off-hours.
Scott’s approach is straightforward: do what you say you’re going to do and always make yourself available to your customers. Facility directors in the middle of planning or a project need answers on the spot — and Scott delivers. Whether it’s a technical question, a schedule change, or a risk concern, his availability and problem-solving mindset are what clients remember most.
“Everything we learned during Ducks’ due diligence has proven true — Scott’s relationships are rooted in the responsiveness he gives his clients and the quality his teams (now NECC teams) bring to every job,” said Cagen Williams, NECC CEO.
Before becoming a part of NECC, Scott led Ducks Roofing, a hallmark of the Portsmouth business community founded by his father in 1976. He came on full-time in 1990 and helped build Ducks into one of the Tidewater region’s most trusted roofing contractors, serving hospitals, schools, and government facilities. When his father retired in 2009, Scott continued that commitment to service and technical excellence – values that made Ducks a natural fit for NECC.
Scott’s career is a testament to what the trades make possible – the ability to build a lasting career through skill, dependability, and integrity. Today, under the NECC name, he continues to deliver the same high standards of service and craftsmanship that have defined his work for nearly 35 years.
